Last year, Dan Bacon shared a story about "A Win-Win Situation" that a couple created for themselves and their favorite ministry through a Charitable Remainder Trust. In this story, Pat Bilow, tells about a couple that created a win-win-win situation for themselves, their children and their favorite ministries. Pat Bilow serves God as an Ohio District gift planning counselor with The LCMS Foundation.
"Godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world and we can take nothing our of it." First Timothy 6:6-7
Marty and Linda Gross have been active members of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Napoleon, Ohio, for 23 years. Truly grateful that God has blessed them with faith, their church, two daughters a son-in-law and a granddaughter, Marty and Linda made a charitable gift plan that will take effect at the surviving spouse's death.
The remainder of their tax-deferred investments will roll over into a charitable trust. No tax will be due since the trust is tax-exempt.
The charitable remainder trust will pay income to their daughters for 20 years. After that it will pay the church ministries they have chosen.
